ARCA Back at Nashville; 25th Running coming April 8th and 9th

TOLEDO, Ohio (March 8, 2016) - After a 23-year hiatus, the ARCA Racing Series presented by
Menards returned to the tradition-rich Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville in 2015. By popular demand, it's coming back in 2016 - April 8-9 for a stock car double-header featuring the 200-lap ARCA national tour finale Saturday night preceded by a combined ARCA/CRA Super Series-Southern Super Series late model clash to set the stage beginning Friday.
The second event of the season for the ARCA Racing Series, on the heels of Daytona, will mark the 25th ARCA appearance at Nashville since its debut on the historic short track in 1959 when three-time ARCA champion Nelson Stacy won the inaugural 300-lap race.

Current ARCA Racing Series point leader John Wes Townley hopes to add his name to the
impressive list of ARCA winners at Nashville, and he's off to a great start. The Watkinsville, Georgia driver opened the season with a victory at Daytona Int'l Speedway, his second career win at Daytona. He'll now look toward Nashville for what would be his career-first ARCA short track triumph.

"Our Nashville car's done, ready to go," Townley said. "I know we have a plan in place for a two day test at Nashville the 23rd and 24th (of March). I'm really looking forward to racing there. Raced a late model there but it's been a while."

Townley's in the middle of a very busy race season, running the full NASCAR Camping World Truck
Series schedule, several XFINITY Series races and at least 17 of the 20 ARCA races, including Nashville.

"Coming back to ARCA is really stress-free. I don't mean to say there's no pressure in ARCA, but for me coming back and running with ARCA is stress-free in comparison to everything else we're doing. There's nothing I don't love about coming back and running with ARCA. It's competitive...I love all the tracks...it's getting back to my roots, and I love it. Nashville is one of those iconic short tracks, and I'd love to be able to say I won there."

Townley will be campaigning a brand new Composite Body car at Nashville straight out of his
Athenian Motorsports shop.

In addition to being one of those "iconic" tracks, Nashville builds champions, especially for those who steer their way into the winner's circle on the seasoned 5/8ths-mile banked oval.

After Stacy's ARCA win in '59, other notable race winners/champions at Nashville include Jack Bowsher (ARCA champion), Don White (USAC Stock Car champion), Harold Smith (ARCA champion), Ramo Stott (ARCA champion), Moose Myers (ARCA champion), Marvin Smith (ARCA champion), David Green (NASCAR Xfinity champion) and most recently 2015 ARCA champion Grant Enfinger who won last year's ARCA 200. Other ARCA winners at Nashville include Andy Hampton, Red Farmer and Coo Coo Marlin, all of whom were track champions in their own locales. Nineteen-time ARCA winner Bob Schacht won three consecutive at Nashville in 1981, '82 and '83.

While racing began at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds as early as 1904, the track which evolved into the current day Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville held its first race in 1958. The track was also home to 42 NASCAR Sprint Cup races from 1958-1984 with Richard Petty leading all drivers with nine wins followed by Darrell Waltrip with eight. Other Cup winners include Joe Weatherly, David Pearson, Bobby Isaac, Cale Yarborough, Buddy Baker, Bobby Allison, Benny Parsons and Dale Earnhardt. The NASCAR Xfinity Series raced there nine times from 1984-2000, and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series held five races from 1996-2000.

ARCA/CRA & Southern Super Series late models to join ARCA national tour at Nashville
Though last year's ARCA Racing Series event was huge, this year's will be even bigger with the addition of the ARCA/CRA Super Series and the Southern Super Series late models. The Friday, April 8 event will feature the Southern Super Series and the ARCA/CRA Super Series competing in separate points paying events, which will determine the line-up in a combined North-South Super Late Model Challenge on Saturday night, just prior to the ARCA 200. Bryce Napier to Make NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Debut at Martinsville!

16 year old Bryce Napier from Scotts Valley, CA will attempt to make his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series next month at Martinsville for MAKE Motorsports. Bryce Napier has a long resume making him one of the hottest commodities and one of the newest young guns coming up in the NASCAR ranks which adds to the list of newcomers making their name in 2016 in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series which includes Grant Enfinger, Brandon Brown, Rico Abreu, Austin Wayne Self, along with Cody Lane who is also making his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Debut at Martinsville. NASCAR's future is looking bright and with the addition of Bryce Napier to the list it's looking as if it will be full of raw talent!
Bryce Napier is from Scotts Valley, CA as listed above and with a resume that includes the 2014 UNOH Youth Achievement Award, 7 Top-10's last season in the Madera Open Late Model Series, Two Main Event wins in the NASCAR Whelen All American Series-sanctioned Late Model races at Stockton 99 Speedway, earning "Rookie of the Year".
"I’m totally committed to racing.  I’ve never played ball sports nor am I into the things a typical 15 year old teenager likes to do.  If I have a day off from school I am either working on my racecar or helping my dad with his HVAC construction business installing furnaces or doing plumbing and electrical work." states Bryce. Being committed in this sport is the #1 thing to become successful and as stated above Bryce is just that.
Bryce has been sponsored by the Support Military Foundation that has been presented by numerous sponsors like XAviation and Lilly Trucking most recently on the Rick Ware Racing Chevrolet Camaro with the BeHero2Hero campaign in the Xfinity Series for the last 2 races. "I am very interested in working with kids especially in terms of promoting my involvement with the Support Military Foundation.  I enjoy bringing my race car to schools and and talk with the students and teachers about my race car and racing program.  This has proven to be an excellent time to speak about the SupportMilitiary.Org Foundation and remind them about the sacrifices our soldiers make to preserve our freedom and way of life. I also support and work with the Wreaths Across America program."
We look forward to seeing Bryce Napier behind the wheel of the Make Motorsports NASCAR Camping World Truck Series truck at Martinsville and hope to see him more in the NASCAR K&N Series, ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, The NASCAR Xfinity Series and hopefully one day we can see him behind the wheel of a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series car! Bryce and his team are still looking for Sponsorship for the Martinsville race and if you are interested please email me at christiank9540@gmail.com, Laurie Napier at napierlaurie@yahoo.com! We look forward to seeing one of NASCAR's newest young guns behind the wheel! We will have a Question and Answer session with Bryce within the next 2 weeks so keep you eyes peeled for that awesome Q and A! (Koelle,2016)

Are You Feeling Lucky? - Phoenix Edition

Phoenix International Raceway in the Desert is one of my personal favorite tracks because I have always liked how different the track was compared to others. It is one track though that you can see numerous duplicate winners and that can sometime be annoying to a fan unless you are a fan of that particular driver. Kevin Harvick has dominated here and I expect nothing different coming up this weekend. But there are a few other drivers who I feel have a very good shot to win either their first career win or first win in a while. I will list those drivers below along with my pick for the Xfinity Series for Saturday's race.

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Picks (4 Picks)

Kevin Harvick

This it the place Harvick built right? Oh no he's just won here a ton. 7 times to be exact but he failed to rack up his 8th win here last November where the race was rained out and Dale Earnhardt Jr. went to victory lane. It was the first time since 2013 that Harvick did not go to victory lane. I possibly think that one loss could knock Harvick off his pedestal but that thought is a very slim thought and that is why Kevin is my first pick to win Sunday's race. In 26 races Kevin has an average finish of 10.62. That is second best to Jimmie Johnson and Jimmie is not on my list of predictions so there is a reason why Happy Harvick is first in my book.

 Joey Logano

Yes we are going there. Joey has the 7th best average at Phoenix in just 14 races at the PIR Track in the Desert. If the rain had not began to fall on the track in the Fall I honestly think Joey could have made his way back into the Chase and could have made one last run for the Championship. Joey's teammate Brad Keselowski locked into the chase last weekend in Las Vegas and I could see Team Penske sweep the West Coast Swing. I think this weekend could be the weekend where Joey could finally overcome the Martinsville incident and go after the championship! Third Time is the Charm!

Ryan Newman

Newman, Newman, Newman. Yeah he's on the list of my predictions because RCR has been pretty good as of late and Ryan Newman has been good at Phoenix. That combination could land the #31 in Victory lane for the first time since Jeff Burton did it in 2008 and land Ryan Newman back in victory lane for the first time since Indianapolis in 2013. This could be the begining of great things for the RCR camp with Paul Menard and Austin Dillon doing so well and Michael McDowell beginning to learn the ways of Chevrolet things could be looking up for Richard Childress Racing!

Ryan Blaney

Ryan Blaney has one win to his name at Phoenix in 2011 in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West. Blaney could add on to the illustrious career he is already building with his first win at Phoenix in his first try. Shades of Alan Kulwicki could be seen and I would love to see the #21 do a polish victory lap after getting his first career Sprint Cup Series win at the same place Alan Kulwicki got his. I could see a great finish if not a win coming at PIR for the #21 driver and certainly make a faster push for the chase!

NASCAR Xfinity Series Pick (1 Pick)

I have been talking about this guy all week and there is a reason. Daniel Suarez is my pick to win Saturday's Axalta 200 Xfinity Series Race. He has won here before and I could see win #2 coming this weekend. Suarez could become the first Xfinity Driver to lock himself in the Chase and I think he would gain some attention from the Fans and owners alike. If Suarez wins the race at Phoenix I predict he will be one of the four drivers in the Final Four come Homestead!

Daniel Suarez - NASCAR Xfinity Series Regular Spotlight

On Saturday Daniel Suarez showed he could step up to the big dogs, almost winning the Boyd Gaming 300 at Las Vegas. Suarez has the talent and a win is near and it could be as soon as Phoenix, a track Daniel is very familiar with. Daniel began in the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2014 at Richmond where he finished an impressive 19th in his debut. Since that race Suarez has impressed fans and drivers alike more and more each week. In recent weeks Daniel has been the guy who has been leading the charge for the Xfinity Series regulars. While not having the win in the win column media and TV announcers know it is coming for Suarez. Suarez has surely shown he belongs in the NASCAR Xfinity and Camping World Truck Series but with the full time ride in the Xfinity Series and support from Kyle Busch good things are going to come to Suarez with time. This weekend at Phoenix could be that one race where Suarez shines bright and could land himself as the first driver to lock into the chase in the Xfinity Series. Phoenix
is just the place for him to do it and I could see a victory by Suarez help the Xfinity Series Viewership as we enter a crucial California Race. Last season Suarez finished 5th in the NASCAR Xfinity Series Championship while so far in 2016 Suarez is the points leader of the Xfinity Series. Could Suarez be the next Sprint Cup Driver for Joe Gibbs? Could he move to the much anticipated 2nd car for Furniture Row in 2017? Only time will tell but I have to say Suarez is one diamond I wouldn't want to let go because he will shine sooner or later. (Koelle,2016)
