Michael Waltrip Racing begins Long Hard Road.

Michael Waltrip Racing began the end of an era Today. More than 200 employees were told today they would lose their jobs in between November 1st thru April 15.Michael Waltrip announced 2 weeks ago that his team would not be fielding a car in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series in 2016 and that Clint Bowyer and David Ragan would lose their rides and be able to pursuit other job offers. Clint Bowyer has been with MWR since 2012 and David Ragan joined MWR earlier in this year when a back up driver was needed after Brian Vickers had to leave for medical reasons. The team has had 7 Sprint Cup Victories and 5 Xfinity Series wins. 

Throwback Thursday - 1985 Southern 500

In 1985 Bill Elliott won the Southern 500 to become the first person to win the Winston Million. Winston was the former sponsor of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. The Winston Million was when a driver won at least 3 of the listed races which were; The Daytona 500, The Winston 500, The Coca-Cola 600, and The Southern 500 all in one season, The equivalency of the Triple Crown in horse Racing. In 1985 Bill Elliott won 2 of 3 races going into the Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway with Darrell Waltrip winning in Charlotte. Bill lead 100 laps en-route to a Million Dollar Victory. Giving Bill yet another nickname "Million Dollar Bill" would be born.
