Kevin Lacroix Set For First Full Season

In 2015 Kevin Lacroix won 2 races in just 6 starts in the NASCAR Pinty's Series which is impressive in any of NASCAR's Series. Despite running 6 races in 2015 Lacroix is still eligible for the Jostens Rookie of the Year Award, something every driver would love to have in their résumé, but he has set his eyes on a battle for driver's championship of the NASCAR Pinty's Series. After six years away from the racetrack, Lacroix proved he can compete with top series drivers. Although he only
competed in half of the events, no one took the series by storm in 2015 more than the true rookie. Following a crash just four laps into the season opener, the road course expert led 28 of 30 laps en route to victory at Circuit ICAR in his second outing. In just the second race ever on an oval in his entire racing career, Lacroix had plenty of speed at Autodrome St-Eustache with his third grid spot before a mechanical failure, then returned to Victory Lane for a second time in the prestigious Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières. Both victories proved to be monumental as he became the fastest driver to earn a win (second start) and the quickest to two victories (fourth start) in series history and the most wins for a Quebec native driver.  The team will enter the 2016 Season with a new race shop. The Construction concluded in December with four work bays, room for the truck and hauler and a machining room. Lacroix Motorsports opted for the highest standards of a large workspace and the best tools and equipment. (Lacroix Motorsports Press Release)

Vickers Could Race Indianapolis 500 another Will Not.

This year is the 100th Indianapolis 500 and many drivers in many other motorsports are tempted to race in it. Stewart-Haas Racing Sprint cup driver Brian Vickers, who is filling in for the injured Tony Stewart, nine-time Indy 500 starter Townsend Bell, the new Grace Autosport team, and 2015 Verizon IndyCar Series/Indy 500 RoY Gabby Chaves are in the running for SPM's available Dallara DW12-Honda.
While Vickers is in the running to race in the 100th Indianapolis 500 another NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver has revealed he will not return. That driver is Kurt Busch. Kurt Busch ran the Indianapolis 500 in 2014 where he finished 6th. Kurt stated the following. "After seriously contemplating making another run at "The Double", and in response to the many questions I receive on the subject as the Month of May approaches, I wanted to state that I will not be participating in this year's 100th running of the Indianapolis 500. I must say this was not an easy decision and it does not in any way reflect upon my desire to compete again in one of the world's greatest races; it is based solely on a need to maintain the focus and momentum we have built early in this NASCAR season with our #41 Stewart-Haas Racing, Haas Automation/Monster Energy Chevy team - hopefully all the way to Homestead and the championship weekend. My experience with Andretti Autosport and its drivers was so very positive and the way in which the IndyCar fans and media welcomed me, it is undoubtedly one of the highlights of my career both personally and professionally. Fortunately, Michael and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway have left the door open for a future run, and perhaps one day I will take them up on that, it just won't be this year."(Koelle,2016)

Nashville - Easter Tradition Until 2011

Names like Biffle, Waltrip, Sorenson, Edwards along with 5 other drivers won the annual Pepsi 300 that was held at the Nashville Superspeedway in Lebanon, TN. It was always held on the weekend where the Cup regulars would have the weekend off for Easter. Another track that is sadly one that sits and waits for something to return. Until 2011 the Xfinity Series raced here on Easter Weekend. Many Cup regulars would enter but it was still a fan favorite. A concrete superspeedway was something you didn't see much on the NASCAR Xfinity and Camping World Truck Series, ARCA Racing Series, and Indy Car Series. It was one of those tracks that I honestly don't think anyone would have cared if it would get a Sprint Cup Series Race because the stand alone events at Nashville were always the entertaining ones. The race that landed on the easter off weekend would give fans a chance to see
drivers like Kevin Harvick and Carl Edwards race at a rather cheap price than what you could drive to Bristol for. Nashville was always a fun track to go to. Not much around it to distract from what the track was and parking was available all around. As time passed less and less races became the standalone races. Milwaukee, Mansfield, IRP, also fell with Nashville as the Xfinity Series would travel more with the Cup Series and trucks would have a smaller schedule. Tracks like these and Rockingham along with North Wilkesboro are the tracks that might save the Xfinity Series. Nashville was always that hidden Easter Egg that was so hard to find and if we aren't careful Nashville will be an Easter Egg that just disappears. (Koelle,2016)

Gilliland Goes 3 for 3 In K&N Series

Todd Gilliland, son of former NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Driver David Gilliland went to Victory Lane for the third time in three tries. Gilliland is a perfect 3 for 3 in the NASCAR K&N West Series. A win at Phoenix, New Smyrna and now Irwindale is showing that the future of NASCAR is looking promising! Gilliland withstood a challenge by Ryan Partridge on a restart on Lap 135 after the seventh and final caution flag was thrown to go on to win by nearly two seconds.
