Ben Kennedy and Red Horse Racing Parts Ways

Red Horse Racing announced that, effective immediately, it will part ways with driver Ben Kennedy. Kennedy and the team had an agreement through the first three races of 2016, but he will not continue in the #11 Toyota Tundra for the remainder of the season. "We wish Ben all the best in his career," said team owner Tom DeLoach. "Red Horse Racing will continue to focus on pursuing the championship with Timothy Peters and the #17. We expect to field two teams in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and we will announce further plans as they are confirmed."(Red Horse Racing)

Dash 4 Cash Could Be the Cash Some Teams Need!

When it comes to the NASCAR Xfinity Series and the Dash 4 Cash promotion it is a grand opportunity for some teams to make a little extra money on top of the high dollars they make already. There are other teams out there like Ryan Sieg Racing, Derrike Cope Racing, Jeremy Clements Racing, along with a few others who could really use the extra money for their underfunded team. A team like Derrike Cope Racing or BJ McLeod Motorsports have a single car out there and more than likely a lot of people who are working for the team are volunteering their time and not taking much in return. $100,000 to these teams is like a race victory because they can take that money and buy useful things like new racecars, new engines, etc. If they can pull off two of these? They are in the chase and a driver like Joey Gase or Ryan Sieg would have a huge weight lifted off of their shoulders. These drivers would celebrate these Dash 4 Cash victories almost as much if not more than as the Denny Hamlin's and Dale Earnhardt Jr's Daytona 500 Victory. So if you cheer for someone
tomorrow cheer these guys on just a little more! It could save a race team! (Koelle,2016)

Carl Edwards Conquers 2nd Straight Pole

2 Time Bristol Winner Carl Edwards went on to win his 2nd straight pole in 2016 after winning the pole last weekend in Texas. Edwards had a rather fast car through the whole qualifying session and it looked to be a Joe Gibbs Racing 1,2,3,4 starting but Joey Logano burst that bubble real quick. Edwards felt that last weekend it would either end with him or Truex in Victory lane but it ended with neither. Carl Edwards will start on pole, Matt Kenseth 2nd, Joey Logano 3rd, Denny Hamlin 4th, and Kyle Busch rounds out the Top 5.

JD Motorsports Bristol Preview

Chastain Rolls into Bristol

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The Xfinity Series makes its first seasonal visit to a short track this weekend for Saturday’s Fitzgerald Glider Kits 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway.
And the race will make some NASCAR history. Breaking from long-time tradition, the event will be broken into two 50-lap heat races and the 200-lap feature. The heats will set the starting lineup for the main event.
Ross Chastain will be shooting for a top-10 finish in the JD Motorsports with Gary Keller No. 4 Chevrolet.
“It’s going to be an unusual weekend,” Chastain said. “No one really knows what to expect with the heat races and the changes. But, in the end, it’s all about having a good car and being smart. We’re looking to do well.”
Chastain has some positive history at the Bristol half-mile. In 2012, he finished third in a Camping World Track Series race at BMS.
Practice is scheduled at 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. (ET) Friday.
Qualifying is set for 9:30 a.m. Saturday, with the heat races to follow at 12:30 p.m. The feature race is scheduled for 1:45 p.m.

New Format Greets Preece

BRISTOL, Tenn. – Ryan Preece will roll into Bristol Motor Speedway for the first time this weekend facing a new NASCAR format.
Saturday’s Fitzgerald Glider Kits 300 Xfinity Series race will be broken into two 50-lap heat races and the 200-lap feature. It’s a new format for NASCAR in its No. 2 series.
Preece, driving the G&K Services Chevrolet, will be among the rookies challenging the track and the new format.
“I really don’t know what to expect with the changes, but I’m looking forward to getting on that track,” Preece said. “I’ve heard and read a lot about it over the years, but you really can’t imagine what to expect until you run some laps. We’ll hopefully get in a strong run.”
Practice is scheduled at 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. (ET) Friday.
Qualifying is set for 9:30 a.m. Saturday, with the heat races to follow at 12:30 p.m. The feature race is scheduled for 1:45 p.m.

Smithley to Test Bristol

BRISTOL, Tenn. – Rookie Garrett Smithley will drive at the tough Bristol Motor Speedway half-mile for the first time in Saturday’s Fitzgerald Glider Kits 300 Xfinity Series race.
The 300-lap event will be the first short-track race of the Xfinity season, and it will be an unusual one.
NASCAR is introducing heat races to its Xfinity competition this season. On Saturday, the field will be split for a pair of 50-lap heat races, and the results of those sprints will set the starting lineup for the 200-lap main.
So not only will the track be new for Smithley but the format will also offer a challenge.
“It’s going to be a fun weekend there,” Smithley said. “It’s a lot to focus on for the first time there, but I’m ready for it. The track is a big challenge, but it’s going to be fun.”

Gus Dean Returns at Talladega for Mason Mitchell Motorsports

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (April 14, 2016) – Officials from Mason Mitchell Motorsports (MMM) announced today that GREE, the world's largest manufacturer of specialized Cooling & Heating Products, will back Gus Dean in the upcoming General Tire 200 at Talladega Superspeedway Friday, Apr. 29.

Dean, 21, returns to MMM after making his ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards debut at Daytona in the team’s No. 98 Chevrolet. Unfortunately, Dean’s series debut came to an abrupt end on the second lap after getting caught up in the “Big One.”

Seeking redemption in his Talladega debut, the Bluffton, S.C. driver is excited to return with the Mooresville, N.C.-based MMM team.

Gus Dean interview at Daytona 2016“I’ve never been so anxious to get behind the wheel of a race car,” said Dean. “We are focused on finishing what we started at Daytona. But, more importantly, I’m grateful to represent GREE and their partners for their first foray into motorsports in the ARCA Racing Series with Mason Mitchell Motorsports. The team has been awesome to work with and I’m confident we’ll be as fast, if not faster in a couple weeks.”

GREE will be joined by its master distributor for the US market, Tradewinds Climate Systems, as well as a number of their regional wholesalers, salespeople, and most importantly, fellow race fans. The company, which ranked 385th in Forbes' Global 2000, possesses 18,000 active patents for products sold in 160 countries.

“GREE and Tradewinds is very excited to be supporting Gus Dean, Mason Mitchell Motorsports and being involved in our ARCA Racing Series debut at Talladega Superspeedway,” said Tradewinds Climate Systems president Dave Pearson. “We look forward to attending the race and rooting for Gus as we hope he makes some “cool” moves towards Victory Lane.”

For Mason Mitchell Motorsports, team owner and 2014 ARCA Racing Series champion Mason Mitchell is thrilled to have another opportunity to work with Dean.

“Gus Dean has a lot of potential and I’m glad we’re going to get another shot at a superspeedway,” Mitchell said. “For never being in an ARCA car before the Daytona test last year, I was amazed how quick Gus was able to get comfortable and handle himself in the draft. When the race came around, I was confident as ever that Gus was more than capable of winning the race.

“The wreck on lap two was unfortunate, but we understand it’s part of racing. I was heartbroken for Gus more than anything. But now, we have a second chance together and Mason Mitchell Motorsports is more than prepared to finish what we started a few months ago with the support of GREE.”

In addition to GREE, Dean and MMM welcome Cab Installers back as a major associate marketing partner for the final restrictor plate race of the season. The S.C.-based company has been a longtime supporter of Dean and continues to follow his path as he attempts to reach the pinnacle of racing competition.

Like Daytona, Dean and MMM will carry an on-board camera giving viewers from home a unique prospective and view from inside the No. 98 GREE / Cab Installers Chevrolet.

The General Tire 200 Friday, April 29 is live on FS1. will feature live timing and scoring, plus live chat of all on-track activities.

Bristol Motor Speedway Announces Race Officials

6 Time Food City 500 winner Rusty Wallace will get the action started on Sunday as he will give the command to start the engines. Rusty Wallace's best track had to be Bristol as he had a total of 9 wins at the World's Fastest Half Mile. For over 30 years, racing legend Rusty Wallace has delighted racing fans with his hard-nosed and aggressive approach to racing and a personality and charisma that are unmatched. Wallace, a former NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion and 55-time race winner, will go into history as one of America's greatest racing drivers. At the time of his retirement, his career victories marked the eight-best all-time career total and his nearly 20,000 laps led rank him seventh all-time. For sixteen straight seasons, Wallace won at least one race in NASCAR's Sprint Cup Series, marking the third longest such streak in history. He is a member of the NASCAR Hall of Fame, International Motorsports Hall of Fame and the National Motorsports Press Association Hall of Fame. He is the recipient of numerous awards and accolades. As a former ABC/ESPN Racing Analyst, he has headlined a number of popular pre-race shows and is widely acknowledged as one of the world's foremost authorities on NASCAR racing.
To wave the Green flag will be Tennessee's Lt. Governor, Ron Ramsey. Lt. Governor Ramsey has built a reputation as the leading voice for economic growth in the General Assembly. The first Republican Senate Speaker in 140 years, Ramsey has been named "The Best Lawmaker for Business in Tennessee" by Business Tennessee magazine for his success in passing pro-growth policy to improve the state's business climate. A small business owner himself, Ramsey believes job growth must be the top priority for state government. He is the first GOP Senate Speaker in Tennessee in 140 years and the first from Sullivan County in over 100 years. In 2011, Ramsey was named to the Board of Directors of National Conference of State Legislators. In 2013, GOPAC named Lt. Governor Ramsey to their Legislative Leaders Advisory Board.

Mears and Geico Team Bounce Back with Strong Texas Run

Fort Worth, TX (April 9, 2016) - After struggling through Martinsville a week ago, Casey Mears and the Germain Racing team aimed to right the course with a strong weekend in Texas. While practice and qualifying proved frustrating, crew chief Bootie Barker and his crew set a strategy for Saturday night's race and when all was said and done, the GEICO team had a solid night and departed the Lone Star State with a 23rd place finish.

"It was a solid result; the kind of race we needed to get things going in the right direction. The pit crew was on it tonight and they did a nice job of getting me on and off of pit road quickly," Mears said. "You're going to have struggles in this sport, but this GEICO team proves time and time again how resilient they are and we always seem to rise up and bounce back whenever we're faced with challenges. I'm proud of everyone on the team and we're excited to get to Bristol next week."

Rain delayed the start of the Duck Commander 500 at Texas Motor Speedway by nearly two-hours, but when the green flag turned the field loose late Saturday night, Mears made immediate progress and began collecting positions. After qualifying 32nd, he quickly moved the No. 13 GEICO Chevrolet SS into the 27th position before penetrating the top-25 on lap 38. Mears would run as high as 18th and the Germain Racing pit crew was efficient in their effort on pit road, routinely executing pit stops in the 11-second range.

When the dust settled after a long night of racing, Mears and the Gecko took the checkered flag in the 23rd position and were back on solid ground when they exited the garage in the early morning hours on Sunday. The Germain Racing team left the track four positions better than they did a year ago when they finished 27th.

The GEICO team will now head to Bristol, TN, for some close-quarters racing action at the World's Fastest Half-Mile.

Casey Mears and the No. 13 GEICO Chevrolet SS will hit the track at Bristol Motor Speedway for the weekend's opening practice session on Friday, April 15th, at 11:00 AM (ET). Qualifying will follow at 4:15 PM (ET).
The Food City 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race is on Sunday, April 17th, and it will be televised live on FOX beginning at 1:00 PM (ET). The Performance Racing Network (PRN) will carry the live radio broadcast, along with SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, channel 90.(Germain Racing)

Are You Feeling Lucky? - Bristol Edition

When it comes to Bristol it is one of the best tracks on the NASCAR Circuit. It is one of the very few tracks that you can see all of the racing action including what happens in the garage from your seat. As NASCAR Heads Back to Thunder Valley we will possibly see our first first time winner since Aric Almirola won at Daytona in July of 2014. NASCAR certainly could see a few of those within the next few races including at the Talladega Superspeedway in 2 weeks! NASCAR is Surely Heating Up! Fans Are You Feeling Lucky??

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Pick 4

Ricky Stenhouse Jr.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. has really improved over his past few years especially here at Bristol. Finishing 2nd here in 2014, Stenhouse should certainly be the one that lands in the Famous Bristol Victory Lane this weekend and bounce onto your fantasy sheets for this weekend! Unless trouble comes I see a Top 5 effort by Stenhouse this weekend in Bristol if not a win. He's always done better during the Day race at Bristol compared to the August Race. That's why he is on this list!

Joey Logano

Joey has been rather dominant recently along with Ford. Joey has been in victory lane for the night race now 2 years in a row and Carl Edwards won the Food City 500 with Ford. Logano has been building back up after the incident at Martinsville and I feel he will be right back into championship form before the Chase starts again in September! Could we see another amazing run by the #22 Shell Pennzoil Ford Fusion begin in Thunder Valley?

Ryan Newman

Newman used to strive on Tracks like these and with Bristol this weekend I could see the #31 Team return to Victory Lane. Newman and Richard Childress Racing have been pretty good as of late and seem to be catching the good end of the stick like Roush Fenway Racing have been doing. When it comes to Bristol, Newman has never won there in the Cup Series but has wins in the Whelen Mods and NASCAR Xfinity Series. I am looking for Newman and his team to gain a Top 5 campaign if not the win. Newman does have a Point in the Pick Four Standings after Martinsville. No one won Texas.

Trevor Bayne

The Knoxville Tennessee Native has improved over his 2015 results in his first full season in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Trevor Bayne has one win the the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series in the 2011 Daytona 500. I think this weekend could be the return for Roush Fenway at the top of the game as they were in the days of Roush Fenway Racing with Matt Kenseth, Greg Biffle, Carl Edwards and the days where RFR was a proud household name. This weekend could be that step in the next direction for Roush Fenway Racing.

NASCAR Xfinity Series Regular Pick

Darrell Wallace Jr.

Bubba has been doing well here as of late and a win is certainly in the future for him. Bubba Wallace is the driver of the Roush Fenway Entry that almost won the race in August of Last year after Chris Buescher ran out of fuel on the final restart. Bubba is a huge fan of the Tennessee Vols and what would be a bigger ode to the Vols than winning where they will be playing in less than a few months. Bristol could make Bubba richer too!
