The championship battle was on full display Friday in the ModSpace 150 at the Pocono Raceway. Zane Smith and Sheldon Creed battled for the lead before the halfway point of the race which would ultimately turn into the battle for the victory. Smith had the upper hand and sent his MDM Motorsports crew to victory lane for the fourth time of the season.MDM Motorsports had another sweep of the front with Creed coming home second, Chase Purdy in third, and Harrison Burton in fourth. Riley Herbst finished the race in fifth, his sixth top-five finish of 2018.
Rain was in the forecast for the entire day but it took most of the day to actually show up. 33 laps into the ModSpace 150, mother nature interfered and in a big way. Heavy rain fell from the sky along with loud claps of thunder and bright lines of lightning while Smith celebrated in the makeshift victory lane.
