Michael Annett Secures First Top-10 Finish of 2018 at Bristol

Michael Annett has been underperforming in equipment but on Friday night, Annett made the best of every situation earning his first top-10 finish of 2018. The seventh-place finish for Annett was the eighth since joining JR Motorsports last season.

“It took us longer than we wanted to finish this well, but we finally got that monkey off our back," said Annett in the team release. "I knew on the last restart that we were going to get used up, so I just concentrated on taking away the exit and we got home seventh in this Pilot Flying J Chevrolet."

Consistency has been key for the No. 5 team this season and that is how they have found themselves in the playoff hunt every season. The series heads to a track this weekend where Annett earned his only top-five finish of 2018. Travis Mack joined Annett at Watkins Glen a few weeks ago and since joining, Annett has failed to finish outside the top-20.

"Travis (crew chief Travis Mack) called a great race, and we figured out where we could make time in that last stage. We gained some points, got some stage points too. That gives us a head of steam going to Road America next week. How about four top-10 finishes for JR Motorsports...that’s a good night’s work.” (Koelle,2018)
