DJ Kennington Returns with Gaunt Brothers Racing at Daytona

DJ Kennington will return to Gaunt Brothers Racing this weekend for the Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona. It'll be Kennington's first start in the MENCS since last month at Michigan where he finished 34th. The team finished 24th in the 2018 Daytona 500 and earned their career-best finish in the second restrictor plate track at Talladega in May where he finished 20th.

“We keep gaining speed with every restrictor plate race and had a good day at Talladega last time out,” said Kennington. “It’s great to have Lordco and Castrol back on board. I can’t wait to get to Daytona and get back behind the wheel of the GBR Toyota Camry.”

The last two races for Gaunt Brothers Racing has featured Parker Kligerman. He raced at Charlotte and Sonoma with GBR earning a best finish of 23rd at Sonoma. Mark Hillman was the crew chief for those two races, as he's been all season long, and he will return to crew chief this weekend with Kennington.

“We’re fortunate to have our original combination of sponsors, as well as D.J., with us for Daytona,” said Marty Gaunt, GBR team owner. “We started our program with restrictor plate racing and with Lordco and Castrol on our Toyota Camry. We’ve improved our result with every restrictor plate start, and we hope that trend continues.”

With the unpredictable nature of Daytona, Gaunt Brothers Racing could be up toward the front at the end. Don't count out Kennington. (Koelle,2018)
