Zane Smith and Joe Graf Jr. cut it close on Friday night. In fact, the closest finish in ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards history close. Smith was able to just edge Graf Jr. for his second career victory, his first came at Nashville a few weeks ago.
0.00-seconds was the margin between Smith and Graf. After reviewing the start-finish camera, it was determined that Smith earned his first superspeedway victory. Friday's General Tire 200 average speed was 115.007 mph., the slowest since 2012. Since becoming a 200-mile race in 2013, it was the longest race time-wise coming in at two hours and 44 seconds.
Michael Self finished third while Sheldon Creed and Josh Williams rounded out the top-five.
Two attempts at an overtime finish highlighted the finish of the race. Bryan Dauzat crashed in turns one and two but ARCA decided not to throw the caution flag which gave Sheldon Creed, who was leading, a chance to continue and maybe earn his first career victory.
As the field got into turns three and four, Bo LeMastus and Chase Purdy both got hooked up into the outside wall. Purdy nailed the outside wall. He was able to get out of the car on his own power but was transported to a local hospital for more attention. After review, Purdy suffered a bulged disc which caused the driver to go into spinal shock. He'll be out of action for about three weeks.
