Kurt Busch turned a 27.360 second (197.368 mph) lap around the Texas Motor Speedway during the first and only round of qualifying on Friday. Lightning in the area of the track canceled the remainder of the qualifying session but the first round was complete meaning the starting lineup was set via first round speeds.
Busch edged out teammates Kevin Harvick and Clint Bowyer for his first pole of 2018 and first since last November at the Texas Motor Speedway. Harvick and Bowyer will start second and third followed by Ryan Blaney and Denny Hamlin.
The pole was his 23rd career pole. Surprisingly, it's only Harvick's second time this season qualifying on the front row. He qualified second at Las Vegas en-route to his second victory of the season.
