Joey Logano and Team Penske straight up dominated Sunday's GEICO 500 and it resulted in Logano earning his first victory since his encumbered win at Richmond last season. The out of control cars resulted in a bland last lap with Logano sailing to the victory.
Kurt Busch finished second followed by Chase Elliott, Kevin Harvick, and Ricky Stenhouse Jr.. David Ragan finished sixth followed by Aric Almirola, Alex Bowman, Ryan Newman, and Daniel Suarez rounded out the top five.
The race was slowed by caution a total of six times for 29 laps. The first big one took place on lap 73 when Erik Jones got clipped by Jamie McMurray. Jones went up the track and collected the No. 6 of Trevor Bayne. Bayne then came down the track clipping Truex Jr. and ultimately making hard impact with the inside wall. Kyle Larson also got into the accident after contact with his teammate McMurray. McMurray and Truex were the only drivers who were able to continue.
On lap 167, the second big one took place. The crash involved many winning contenders including Brad Keselowski, Paul Menard, Michael McDowell, William Byron, among others. The air bubble between Jimmie Johnson and William Byron wiggled around. Menard then got loose and went up the track collecting Clint Bowyer and Michael McDowell.
Blaney went down to avoid the crash and he got rammed into by teammate Keselowski and as result, the No. 2 car hit the outside wall. Kasey Kahne, AJ Allmendinger, Joey Gase, Austin Dillon, and others were also collected in the crash with only a few left standing with little to no damage.
