"Shane Wilson made a really, really smart call there," said Grala. "We didn’t have the short run speed we were hoping for but the long run speed was good for us. We were consistent. A P12 finish is our best yet since Daytona and to tell you the truth we beat some teams we probably shouldn’t have as an underdog team."
Despite not earning a top-10 finish on Saturday, Grala still earned a strong finish early in his rookie year in the NASCAR XFINITY Series. Grala made the move from GMS Racing in the NCWTS to JGL Racing over the offseason and so far its paid off. Grala currently sits 12th in the points standings meaning if the playoffs were to end today, Grala would be the last driver to make the playoffs.
"It was a pretty cool run for us. I am really proud of the guys at JGL Racing. They really got this NETTS Mustang hooked up this season. If we keep bringing cars like that to the track we are going to get some top-10’s here pretty soon and you might even see us in the playoffs.”
Next weekend the XFINITY Series heads to Auto Club Speedway. It'll be the first time that Grala will race at the track in Southern California. The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series doesn't race at the track anymore which means Grala will be a true rookie next Saturday. (Koelle,2018)
