Tires were the most important thing during Saturday's Roseanne 300 at Auto Club and with the fastest car on-track, Joey Logano earned his first XFINITY Series victory of the 2018 season. Logano took the lead from pole-sitter Christopher Bell with less than five laps complete and despite a few hurdles Logano was able to steal the victory in Fontana.
Logano ultimately had the fastest car during the race whether he was on older or newer tires. Late in the race though, a call to bring Logano down pit road after the rest of the field had come down a few laps earlier would make things interesting. Logano made passes left and right and ultimately took the lead back and after that, he never looked back.
The victory is Logano's second at Auto Club Speedway, 29th of his career, and first with Team Penske at ACS (Logano won in 2012 with Joe Gibbs Racing). Speaking of firsts, its the first time that Team Penske has gone to victory lane in the XFINITY Series in Southern California.
Justin Allgaier and Elliott Sadler finished second and third in a very close finish. Austin Dillon and Daniel Hemric rounded out the top five. The battle between the two teammates was important as the two battle for points as the series takes the next two weekends off before the series returns to Texas on April 7th.
