Clint Bowyer Snaps 190-Race Winless Streak with Victory at Martinsville

Saturday, October 13th, 2012 was the last time that Clint Bowyer visited victory lane in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. Bowyer won at Charlotte Motor Speedway with Michael Waltrip Racing. Over that time, Bowyer raced for HScott Motorsports and now Stewart Haas Racing. Last season, Bowyer came so close a couple of times finishing second three times (Bristol, Sonoma, and Daytona).

On Monday, March 26th, 2018 Clint Bowyer put on a Stewart Haas Racing clinic leading 215 laps en-route to his first victory since that Saturday in October 2012. Bowyer held off a late charge from Kyle Busch, Busch earned his fourth straight top-three finish.

Stage two winner Ryan Blaney finished third, Martin Truex Jr. finished fourth, and Kevin Harvick rounded out the top five.

The race was slowed by caution four times for 33 laps. Only one of the cautions were caused by an accident, that accident involved Austin Dillon getting into Jamie McMurray sending him spinning. Landon Cassill was the only driver who didn't finish the race (rear gear issues).

With his second-place finish, Kyle Busch takes over the points lead heading into the Easter off-weekend. The series gets back into action at Texas in two weeks.
