On Sunday, February 11th, the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East kicks off its season in New Smyrna Speedway. The high-banked half-mile, just 12 miles away from the Daytona International Speedway, where all three NASCAR series and the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards begin their season.
Dover International Speedway will end the season again this year on October fifth. During that race, the series will crown a champion of the series while the race itself will accompany the NASCAR XFINITY Series and Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series.
“Over the last decade, we’ve seen the NASCAR K&N Pro Series transform into the primary developmental series for our next generation of Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series stars,” said Jim Cassidy, NASCAR senior vice president of racing operations in the NASCAR release. “The 2018 schedule is designed to provide a proving ground for the next crop of young drivers looking to make their mark on our sport.”
Two combination races will highlight the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East and West schedules. The two series will battle together on the same track for two weekends in 2018. The first will be at the Iowa Speedway in July. The race has been the traditional combo race but new in 2018 will be a debut at Gateway Motorsports Park on Friday, August 24th. That combination race will accompany the Verizon IndyCar Series Bommarito Automotive Group 500.
Notable Highlights of the 2018 Season
- The NASCAR K&N Pro Series East will accompany at least one national series five times next season. Iowa, Dover, Bristol, New Hampshire and Watkins Glen all highlight the schedule.
- Memphis International Raceway returns to the schedule again in 2018. The series made its return to Memphis Tennessee this year and is seemingly testing the water for NASCAR at Memphis.
- The K&N Pro Series East will also be a part of a historic triple-header race day on Saturday, Sept. 22 at New Hampshire. The series will join the NASCAR Whelen Modified Series and the Canadian based NASCAR Pinty's Series. The weekend will be the debut of the Pinty's Series south of the border.
- Greenville Pickens Speedway and Berlin Raceway are not returning to the schedule from last years. It'll be the first time since 2006 that the series doesn't visit Greenville Pickens Speedway.
