Toyota Chasing History on Sunday

On Sunday, Toyota will be chasing history in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series during the Ford 400 at the Homestead-Miami Speedway. Toyota is chasing its first ever Manufacturer's title in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. The manufacturer has a 30-point advantage over Chevrolet who has won the Manufacturer's title the last thirteen seasons with Ford being the last Manufacturer to gain the title way back in 2002. Toyota needs one of it's eight drivers to finish 26th or better to clinch the title. If Toyota can win the Manufacturer's title it'd be the first time a Manufacturer's championship would be won by a Manufacturer other than Ford or Chevrolet since Buick did so in 1981 and 1982.
Toyota has had a very good year with it's addition of Martin Truex Jr. and Furniture Row Racing with Truex gaining the most victories for the Manufacturer at 4 victories (Charlotte, Darlington, Chicago, and Dover). Toyota will have two drivers represented in the Final Four on Sunday with Carl Edwards chasing his first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Championship while Kyle Busch will attempt to defend his Championship from 2015. On top of those two competing for the Championship, Jeffrey Earnhardt, Martin Truex Jr., Matt DiBenedetto, David Ragan, Matt Kenseth, and Denny Hamlin will seek to gain Toyota it's 17th victory of the season.
