Enfinger was able to hold off teammate Spencer Gallagher coming to the checkered flag to take the victory after leading 45 laps. Spencer Gallagher finished second while Chasers Timothy Peters and Ben Kennedy finished 3rd and 5th. Rico Abreu finished 4th between the two chasers. John Hunter Nemechek was the first Chase Driver to fall victim of an engine failure at lap 14 and he became the first driver to be eliminated and not move on to the round of six. That 7th place spot was a battle all day long mainly between Matt Crafton and Daniel Hemric but in the end, Hemric wasn't able to land the victory nor the points after Crafton lost an engine with six laps to go and Hemric would be the second driver to be eliminated.
“Today was just another statement of what we’ve done all year, and that’s battle to the end. We knew what our point situation was coming into Talladega. Tyler Reddick, Austin Cindric and myself were able to work together really well early in the race. That first wreck hurt my truck and damaged my teammates, so we were wounded and without much help. We continued to battle and got caught up in another mess. All we could do then was focus on getting to the end. I respect how easily the roles can be reversed at a track like Talladega, because we could have had a great day while one of our other Chase competitors struggled. I hate it for my guys who have been working so hard all year. We just came up short.” stated Hemric in Brad Keselowski Racing's Post Race Report.
