One major accident occurred in 2nd practice when the #95 Chevrolet SS of Ty Dillon had a parts failure which caused his car to spew oil onto the track, that caused the #40 of Reed Sorenson to begin breaking which caused the #83 of Michael Waltrip run into the rear of Ryan Newman's #31. In practice #2 Michael McDowell became the first driver to reach over 200 mph in all practices that have been ran.
