Stanton Barrett is set to make his first start in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series since the 2006 Dover 400. Barrett has 22 starts in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series with a best finish of 30th twice at Las Vegas in 1999 and Phoenix in 2005.

He will pilot the No. 51 Jacob Companies Ford Fusion for Rick Ware Racing, a team he has had experience with in the past. He last attempted to make a start with RWR in the 2007 Daytona 500. He has six other attempts with the organization coming in 2004 and 2006. Barrett has 26 starts with Ware in the NASCAR XFINITY Series with a best finish of 14th at Darlington in 2010.

Barrett's last start in NASCAR came in 2016 at Mid-Ohio with B.J. McLeod Motorsports where he finished 27th. Barrett, like the remainder of the field, will be trying his hand at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval for the first time on Sunday. Barrett has never competed on a road course in the Cup Series but has a best finish of 17th twice, once at Montreal in 2007 and another at Road America in 2010. (Koelle,2018)
