Kyle Benjamin Adds Mid-Ohio to 2018 XFINITY Schedule

Following the US Cellular 250 at Iowa Speedway a few weeks ago, Kyle Benjamin had competed in what was supposed to be his second and final XFINITY Series start of 2018. Benjamin posted a strong third-place finish and even competed against Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Christopher Bell late in the race for the victory.

Benjamin expressed to The Motorsports News Source earlier this year at Atlanta that he was playing it race-by-race but only had two slated starts for the season. With the XFINITY Series breaking away from the Cup Series for the next two weekends the No. 18 All-Star car needed a fill-in for Mid-Ohio. With that, Kyle Benjamin has been announced to pilot the No. 18 Toyota ServiceCenters Toyota Camry this weekend at Mid-Ohio.

In both starts in the XFINITY Series this season, Benjamin has finished inside the top-ten with a best finish of third at Iowa. On Saturday, he'll make his eighth career XFINITY Series start and first on a road course. He has a career-best finish of second last season at Iowa and the best start of first twice (Pocono and Kentucky in 2017).

Benjamin has experience on road courses in both the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East and ARCA Racing Series. He's competed at New Jersey Motorsports Park and Virginia International Raceway. On Saturday, Benjamin will look to capitalize on a Cup regular free race and earn his first career XFINITY Series victory. (Koelle,2018)
