Kevin Harvick Dominates En-Route to First Michigan Victory Since 2010

Kevin Harvick put on a clinic leading 108 of the 200 laps to win the Consumers Energy 400 at Michigan. Harvick has finished second six times since his last victory at MIS that came in 2010.

Brad Keselowski finished the race in second while Kyle Busch finished third.

Austin Dillon came down pit road during the final stop for two tires and it put Dillon with a chance to earn the victory but the other two tires went beyond their able distance as the No. 3 car lost a tire with two laps remaining. Dillon held it till the checkered flag and earned his second top-five finish and first since his victory at Daytona, he finished fourth.

Ryan Blaney rounded out the top-five.

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series heads to "Thunder Valley" next Saturday night for the Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race at the Bristol Motor Speedway. Three races remain before the playoffs begin in Las Vegas. Harvick earns his seventh victory today, the most of all the field. The cut-off line doesn't look much different than it did last weekend at Watkins Glen. Jimmie Johnson sits 15th with a 102 point margin. His Hendrick Motorsports teammate Alex Bowman sits 16th with a 62 point margin over the cut-off.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. sits 17th, the first driver on the outside with a 62 deficit. Paul Menard sits 18th (-72), Daniel Suarez sits 19th (-89), and Ryan Newman sits 20th (-92). Out of that group, Stenhouse Jr. has been one of the best at Bristol and it could be the race that pushes him into the playoffs. (Koelle,2018)
