Furniture Row Racing Confident it will Continue to Field Entry in 2019

After the announcement that 5-Hour Energy would not return to NASCAR in 2019, Furniture Row Racing is now left looking for sponsorship to fill the void left by the energy shot brand.

On Wednesday Barney Visser, owner of Furniture Row Racing, released a statement declaring that the team has "every intention" to compete in the MENCS past the 2018 season.

“Furniture Row Racing continues to develop sponsorship opportunities for 2019 and beyond. We have aligned ourselves with great partners over the years and are very proud of the success our organization has achieved, especially the 2017 NASCAR Cup Series championship with Martin Truex Jr. Furniture Row Racing not fielding a team in 2019 is not an option and we have every intention of continuing to build on our success for years to come.”

2018 has been filled with multiple rumors around the sport and with the departure of 5-Hour Energy, rumors began swirling around the garage about Furniture Row Racing's future and it was severe enough that it had to result in Visser releasing a statement that was first reported by Sports Business Journal.

It was announced at Talladega last October that 5-Hour Energy would serve as a co-primary sponsor alongside Bass Pro Shops and Tracker Boats in 30 races this season. At Sonoma in June, Martin Truex Jr. took 5-Hour Energy back to victory lane for the first time as a primary sponsor since Clint Bowyer won at Charlotte in 2012.

For many years, Visser's company Furniture Row and Denver Mattress sponsored the No. 78 entry including last season when the team earned the championship of the Cup series. This is the first season since the organization debuted in 2005 that one of his companies have not served as primary sponsors on any of his entries.

Truex Jr. dominated the 2017 season en-route to his first championship in the Cup series. Since joining Furniture Row Racing in 2014 he's earned 17 victories, 51 top fives, 85 top 10s, and 12 poles. Following 2018 though, Truex Jr.'s contract with Furniture Row Racing comes to an end and he hasn't updated the situation as of this writing.

As for Furniture Row Racing's future with Visser releasing a statement, fans can be confident that the No. 78 team will return in 2019 but as for the future of the driver of the entry, expect news to come out sometime in the future. (Koelle,2018)
