Chase Elliott Filling in for Spencer Gallagher at Darlington and Indianapolis

Chase Elliott will pilot the No. 23 GMS Racing Chevrolet in two of the final three races of the regular season in the XFINITY Series. GMS Racing announced on Tuesday that Elliott will be filling in for Spencer Gallagher who is continuing to have issues with his shoulder. Gallagher was forced to miss this last weekends race in Canada with Timothy Peters filling in for him.

"Due to Spencer Gallagher's shoulder injury, Chase Elliott will return to the No. 23 Chevrolet beginning this weekend at Darlington Raceway as well next week at Indianapolis Motor Speedway," said Mike Beam, president of GMS Racing. "As Gallagher continues to work with his doctor back home in Vegas, we do not have an exact time frame of when he will return to the seat."

Elliott has the same amount of XFINITY Series starts as he had in 2017 but he still hasn't visited victory lane. In six starts, Elliott has one top five and three top 10's with the best finish of second at Pocono with GMS Racing. (Koelle,2018)
