Kiklos Olive Oil to Sponsor Kaz Grala at Daytona

Since the four-race deal ran up at Iowa, it's been a week-to-week prediction for whether or not Kaz Grala and FURY Race Cars would be on the entry list. Last weekend, Grala's team picked up sponsorship at the last minute to run Chicago. The team announced on Monday afternoon that they have obtained the sponsorship to be able to race this weekend at Daytona, a track that Grala has one truck victory.

“Daytona has been very good to me in the past," said Grala. "The last time I raced there under the lights, we left Victory Lane covered in Gatorade. Even my Xfinity debut ended up being a top five earlier this year at Daytona."

Restrictor plate racing has been both good and bad to Grala. The good comes in the form of him winning at Daytona last season in the trucks and finishing fourth at Daytona in his XFINITY Series debut. The bad part though has been at Talladega, the other restrictor plate track on the schedule. Earlier this season, Grala finished 20th at Talladega. Last October, Talladega was the track that eliminated Grala from the playoffs. So it's a good thing that the series goes to Daytona and not Talladega this weekend.

"Plate races take communication, patience, strategy, and of course, a little luck. We had our dose of bad luck last weekend at Chicago, so we're hoping to put that behind us and turn things in the other direction this weekend. Thanks to Kiklos and Marlow's Tavern, who are both previous supporters of mine, we're going to be chasing that trophy and playoff berth at the World Center of Racing.”

Grala currently sits 16th on the playoff points standings, just 49 points outside of the playoff. As noted, should Grala win on Friday night he will punch his ticket to the playoffs. (Koelle,2018)
