Justin Allgaier, the last driver to win in the XFINITY Series, is the defending race winner of the Overton's 300 back when it was in September. Though not being raced in July, this race is near its former date. From 2001-2010, this race was run in the first part of July. Kyle Busch was the last driver to win a July race at Chicago in 2010 but will not defend that victory this weekend as Daniel Suarez will pilot the No. 18 entry.
There are five Cup regulars entered in Saturday's Overton's 300 at Chicagoland Speedway. Kevin Harvick, Daniel Suarez, Chase Elliott, and Paul Menard are those drivers entered this weekend.
Jeb Burton returns to the No. 3 this weekend for Richard Childress Racing. Being as Paul Menard will pilot the No. 22 and Chase Briscoe piloting the No. 60, Team Penske has entered the No. 12 for Austin Cindric.
