Johnny Sauter to Sub for Suspended Spencer Gallagher Starting at Dover

2016 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion Johnny Sauter will fill-in for Spencer Gallagher in the No. 23 Chevrolet Camaro in the NASCAR XFINITY Series beginning this weekend at Dover.

On Wednesday, NASCAR announced that Gallagher had been suspended indefinitely for violating NASCAR's substance abuse policy. He had just secured his first career victory last weekend at Talladega but will now not only miss a good number of races but will also fail to qualify for the NASCAR XFINITY Series playoffs as NASCAR will not grant him a waiver. Gallagher will partake in NASCAR's Road to Recovery program and is expected to return once he's reinstated by NASCAR.

Johnny Sauter has 205 starts in the NASCAR XFINITY Series with three career victories, 21 top five's, 49 top ten's, and four career poles. Sauter's last start in the series came in 2014 driving for Hattori Racing Enterprises at Daytona where he finished 15th. Sauter currently competes full-time in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and is currently the points leader after four races. He has one victory this season coming at the season-opening race at Daytona. (Koelle,2018)
