Landon Cassill Secures StarCom Racing's Best Finish at Bristol

Landon Cassill was able to break through on Monday to earn StarCom Racing their best finish in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. Since joining StarCom Racing at Martinsville, improvement has been evident in the No. 00 Chevrolet SS. Rear gear issues sidelined the team at Martinsville, Cassill's debut for the organization. The next two races, Cassill would tie the teams best finish and then beat that best finish by one position.

"Top 20 at Bristol for StarCom Racing is exciting and all, but the real story is that we did it on the same right side tires for the last 125 laps of the race because we ran out of tires in the pits. What a car!" Cassill said on Twitter following the race.

The 20th place finish for Cassill at Bristol was his best finish since he finished 20th at Chicago last season. In just three starts this season, Cassill already has a better average finish than he did last season and ties his average finish from the 2016 season. An interesting statistic about the finish on Sunday was that StarCom Racing earned their first top-20 finish as an organization quicker than 2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series organization Furniture Row Racing. After all, it's all about the people you surround yourself with. Could Cassill lead to more improvement as the season continues should he remain with the organization? It has already been announced that Joey Gase will pilot the No. 00 at Talladega but what if Cassill returns at Dover?

Cassill returns to Richmond with StarCom Fiber on board. He has the best finish of 19th and the best qualifying effort of 12th both coming in the September 2012 race. With those statistics, it could be very likely that 20th place best finish for the organization won't last long. (Koelle,2018)
