Strong Weekend in Atlanta following Career Best Finish at Daytona for Spencer Gallagher

Rolling off of the momentum from his career-best sixth place finish at Daytona, Spencer Gallagher, and the GMS Racing crew rolled into the Atlanta Motor Speedway with a fast Allegiant Travel Chevrolet Camaro. A strong qualifying effort would highlight the weekend as the team just missed moving into the final round of knockout qualifying. As was all but two other drivers, everyone was playing catch up with Kevin Harvick who had the fastest car of the day but in the long run, Gallagher ran his own race and came home with a 14th place finish.

"Our Allegiant Travel Chevy had some good fire off speed," Gallagher said. "Track just kind of got away from us a little bit today. We were pretty tight most of the race but you know my guys worked hard all day.

During the entire weekend, many teams in both the NASCAR XFINITY Series and the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series were having issues with the new pit gun NASCAR has handed to teams to attempt to level the playing field. During just its second weekend though the gun was a problem for many drivers including Gallagher during Saturdays XFINITY Series race.

"These pit guns haven't been serving anyone well and today we got bit by one breaking but that's racing. We just go on next week and try and prove ourselves. All-in-all it was a good weekend for this GMS crew, appreciate all the work they put into building these cars."

The NASCAR XFINITY Series heads to Gallagher's backyard in Las Vegas, Nevada. He has one XFINITY Series start at the LVMS last season where he finished 23rd after starting 24th.

"I am looking forward to being in my own timezone and to perform in front of a hometown crowd. Hopefully, we get to go hang out downtown and see the lights again, it'll be nice." (Koelle,2018)
