Second Top-10 of 2018 for AJ Allmendinger

AJ Allmendinger has become one of the better drivers at the Martinsville Speedway and on Monday, he put on a strong performance behind the wheel of the No. 47 Kroger/Clicklist Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. Allmendinger finished eighth and was consistently up front during the entire race. Allmendinger fell a few times during the race after pit stops but every time he'd make his way back up to the top 10.

The eighth-place finish is his second top-10 of 2018. Allmendinger finished 10th in the season-opening race at Daytona. Along with being his best finish of 2018, it was his best finish since last years Coke Zero 400 at Daytona.

Despite struggling in the first stretch of races, an eighth-place finish at Martinsville is something to be excited about heading into the Easter off-weekend. Allmendinger currently sits 19th in Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series points. The upcoming stretch of races was a struggle for the team last season. From Texas to the Coca-Cola 600, the team only finished 20th or better twice. One of the interesting things will be on whether or not JTG Daugherty Racing took the right notes over the first six races, especially with their new alliance with Hendrick Motorsports.
