Martinsville Double-Hitter Postponed to Monday

After snow fell on the Martinsville Speedway and the area around the track, NASCAR made the call this morning to postpone the double-hitter planned for today (March 25). The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series got 24 laps into the Alpha Energy Solutions 250 yesterday but when rain began to fall on the track, the forecast wasn't looking promising either, NASCAR decided to postpone the race and cancel Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series qualifying that was slated for Saturday evening, then the snow began to fall Saturday night into Sunday morning.

"Way more snow than anticipated last night," said NASCAR Executive Vice President and Chief Racing Development Officer Steve O'Donnell on Twitter. "We met with track/local authorities this morning-resources need to be dedicated to local community-roads-trees down, etc. We’ll put on a great day of NASCAR Monday. Always a tough call but the right one in this case."

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series is now scheduled for 11 a.m. ET tomorrow (March 26th). That race will then be followed by the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at 2 p.m. ET. Both of those races will be on FOX Sports 1 and will be broadcasted live on the Motor Racing Network and on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, Channel 90. (Koelle,2018)
