Following the first time all four Stewart Haas Racing cars finished inside the top 10 last weekend at ISM Raceway, Kevin Harvick and Clint Bowyer led the way in the first and only practice session of the day. Harvick turned a 38.082-second lap around the Auto Club Speedway with his Bowyer turning a 38.255-second lap. Aric Almirola finished third while the fourth Stewart Haas car of Kurt Busch finished 13th.
Ryan Newman and Kyle Larson rounded out the top-five speeds.
Daniel Suarez made hard contact with the outside wall in the exit of turn two which resulted in the No. 19 team pulling out the backup car. Suarez will have to go to the rear of the field on Sunday as a result.
Qualifying will start at 7:15 p.m. ET with coverage beginning at 7 p.m. ET on FS1
