Ray Evernham knows a thing or two about the young guns in NASCAR. After all the NASCAR veteran has worked with many of who, at the time, was NASCAR's young guns including Kasey Kahne, Jeff Gordon, and others. Though not being as involved in the sport as he had been, Evernham is still influencing today's youth, working around Hendrick Motorsports and their youth drivers of Alex Bowman and William Byron.

“I think that is a really good question because I think about that a lot,” Evernham told The Motorsports News Source when asked about the future of the sport with the younger drivers. “I have talked to people and thought right now when I look at the field of the young drivers and young people coming into the sport as young as they are, the talent, and the job they are doing. I think the sport is in a better position than it’s ever been with new talent. When I look at that I think is that because is it easier to come up whether it be legends cars, go-karts, or is it the Iracing."

To think about it, there are a lot more ways to break into the sport than there were 15 to 20 years ago. More drivers coming up into the ranks has different styles of backgrounds but there is always one common goal, they make it to NASCAR. All of these different backgrounds build NASCAR into one of the most competitive racing series in the world.

“I think NASCAR is in the best position it has been in several years. Not that we haven’t gotten two or three young drivers at a time but now you have six or eight young guys who are talented and can easily win and I think that says a lot about the path up and the fact that a lot of young guys still have an interest getting here.” (Koelle,2018)
