Garrett Smithley Returning to JD Motorsports in 2018

Garrett Smithely will return to JD Motorsports in 2018, the team confirmed Wednesday. Smithley joins Vinnie Miller, Ross Chastain, and Matt Mills in the JD Motorsports camp for the 2018 season. He'll run his third full-time schedule in the XFINITY Series where he'll pilot the No. 0 Chevrolet Camaro.

“I’m so excited to be back with JD Motorsports with Gary Keller this season,” Smithley said in the team release. “We’ve had two very successful seasons together and to be given the opportunity to continue to build on that is something I do not take for granted.”

Smithley made his XFINITY Series debut in 2015 at Homestead, finishing 28th. In his two seasons with JD Motorsports, he's tallied two top-ten finishes, both coming last season. Smithley had the best finish of 18th in points in his Rookie season with JD Motorsports in 2016. Smithley will be just shy of his 100th XFINITY Series start, as Homestead will be start No. 99 for the Peachtree City, GA native.

“I’m very happy to have Garrett back in the No. 0 Chevy again this season,” said team owner, Johnny Davis. “Garrett has a lot of talent as a driver, and he has the right attitude for working with his team, his crew chief, and the team’s sponsors. This will be JD Motorsports’ best season yet, and having Garrett behind the wheel will play a key part in that.” (Koelle,2018)
