JP Motorsports Announces formation of XFINITY Series Program

Officials from JP Motorsports announced on Wednesday that they will compete full-time in the NASCAR XFINITY Series in 2018. JP Motorsports has obtained cars from TriStar Motorsports and will field the No. 55 Toyota Camry.

The team will be run by Jerry and Phyllis Hattaway. Jerry and his wife Phyllis own Crystal Clear Quality Home Improvement based out of Modesto, CA. Hattaway is an avid race fan and has been involved in NASCAR in many different ways over the past few years.

“I am very excited to form a team in NASCAR’s XFINITY Series,” said Hattaway. “I am truly speechless, to say the least. We are ready to roll and get this 2018 season underway. We are striving to do the absolute best in our first season."

Crew chief duties will be done by Jason Houghtaling. Houghtaling was the crew chief for MBM Motorsports last season and earned his best finish of 17th as a crew chief with Timmy Hill (Daytona and Talladega). Houghtaling is on the verge of his 50th start as a crew chief which is slated to take place on March 10th at Phoenix.

“I am very excited to get 2018 started, especially with the new team,” Houghtaling said. “It’ll be fun to help a new organization grow in the very competitive XFINITY Series and it’ll be fun to compete against some of the best in the business.”

The team expects to announce a driver within the next few weeks. They will make their debut next month in the season-opening event at the Daytona International Speedway. The organization is still seeking marketing partners for the 2018 season, you can reach out to the team at JPMotorsports55@gmail.com.
