Qualifying was important this season in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. If you look at the statistics, the numbers back that statement up and below is an overview of what qualifying meant.

This season a total of six drivers started on the pole en-route to a victory. Kaz Grala (Daytona), Christopher Bell (Atlanta), Chase Elliott (Martinsville), Kyle Busch (Bristol), Austin Cindric (Canada), and Chase Briscoe (Homestead) all started on the pole en-route to the victory. Last season only three drivers were able to win from the pole and in 2015 seven drivers won from the pole.

Three drivers started second en-route to victory. John Hunter Nemechek (Gateway) and Matt Crafton (Eldora) did it once while Bell (Kentucky & New Hampshire) did it twice.

Other NCWTS Qualifying Notes

  • Christopher Bell secured the most poles at five. Bell only won one of those races though (Atlanta).
  • Speaking of Christopher Bell, He had the worst starting spot of a winner this season. At Texas in June, Bell started 21st en-route to his second victory of the season.
  • Three drivers started on the pole en-route to their first career victory. Kaz Grala at Daytona, Austin Cindric in Canada, and Chase Briscoe at Homestead.
  • Toyota secured 13 poles this season, the most of any manufacturer in the NCWTS.
