Gateway Motorsports Park has been a favorite track among many over the last two decades and after falling off just a little there a few seasons it seems that Gateway is returning to glory in the eyes of NASCAR.

With the addition of the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards and NASCAR K&N Pro Series this season, it seems that finally, we could see Gateway back on the map. The track just six miles away from downtown St. Louis Missouri has been a part of NASCAR since 1997, making its debut with the NASCAR XFINITY Series. Since that date, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards have made appearances.

In 2018 the NASCAR K&N Pro Series makes its debut at Gateway which makes one believe that a return by the XFINITY Series is only around the corner. Interest in racing is there and it's something that the city of Madison Illinois can be happy about. The return of Gateway to the series is a good sign for those fans who want to see some of the older tracks that both the XFINITY Series and Truck Series used to race at because it could be the beginning of the return to a racetrack near you. Tracks like Memphis, Fairgrounds Speedway in Nashville, and others could be just around the corner from getting a return race.

2018 will be filled with hard racing at Gateway and 2019 could feature the return of the XFINITY Series. With the five year agreement with tracks, Gateway could be in for a reawakening in the coming seasons. (Koelle,2017)
