Veteran crew chief Chad Norris will oversee the No. 23 entry next season for Spencer Gallagher and GMS Racing in the NASCAR XFINITY Series. Norris most recently was the crew chief for Brennan Poole the last two seasons. He's overseen cars for Matt Kenseth, Mark Martin, Trevor Bayne, Marcos Ambrose, Ryan Reed, and Darrell Wallace Jr., all in the XFINITY Series. Norris was the crew chief for Carl Edwards and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series back in 2012.

“Chad will bring a lot of good and solid knowledge to this XFINITY program,” said General Manager Mike Beam in the team release. “Spencer showed a lot of improvement last season and I feel like Chad can take him to the next level. With Chad’s veteran knowledge and experience I know Spencer and this No. 23 team will succeed and excel.”

In 215 starts as a crew chief, Norris has been a part of three victories, 27 top-fives, 96 top-10's, and five career poles. Under the leadership of Norris, Poole has made the playoffs the last two seasons and has accomplished the best finish of sixth in points twice.

“I am really excited to join GMS Racing for the 2018 season,” Norris said in the team release. “We have all of the assets to build this XFINITY team into a top-tier competitor every weekend at the track. With Mike Beam and myself, there is a lot of veteran knowledge to continue to not only help Spencer to grow as a driver but the XFINITY program as a whole.”

2018 will be Gallagher's second full-time season in the XFINITY Series. In 40 starts in the series, he has a best career finish of eighth at Daytona in 2016. Gallagher finished 19th in XFINITY Series points in his first full-season. (Koelle,2017)
