Cope Returning to Cup Series

Though in the times of change a familiar face will be returning to the cup series in 2017, NASCAR Veteran and 1990 Daytona 500 Champion Derrike Cope will be returning to the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series driving for Premium Motorsports.

The 1990 Daytona 500 Champion has been spending the last few years in the NASCAR Xfinity Series piloting and owning the #70 Chevrolet Camaro. Cope raced in 24 of the seasons 33 races last season with a best finish of 25th at Darlington. Cope's was last seen in the cup series in 2011 but has remained in the Xfinity Series since. Cope has 409 starts in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series gaining 2 victories, 6 Top-5's, 32 Top-10's, and 1 pole. Both of Cope's career victories came in 1990 with one coming in the 1990 Daytona 500 and the other coming at Dover.
Derrike Cope will make his season debut at the Atlanta Motor Speedway early next month piloting the #55 Chevrolet SS for Premium Motorsports. A possibility of a full-schedule for the 58 year old from Washington is a possibility depending on if Cope can gain the sponsorship.
