The Motorsports News Source Playlist - Theme to the 59th Annual Daytona 500

The 2017 Daytona 500 will be one of the biggest in the history being the first points paying race of the Monster Energy Era. Denny Hamlin is the defending race winner while "Paradise" by Coldplay is the defending winner of theme to the Daytona 500. A new year brings new options for themes for the 58th Annual Daytona 500. #DaytonaDay is back sadly so lets overhaul their promotion of the biggest race of the year by voting for a new theme or maybe a repeat winner in "Paradise". The poll will be to the right of this article and we need your votes! Here are the nominees for the theme of the 2017 Daytona 500.

"Paradise" by Coldplay - Defending Winner

The defending winner as voted by you the fans last year is up for a repeat in 2017. Paradise was certainly used numerous times while we were in Daytona for Speedweeks and it was certainly in my head a lot of last season. This is one of those songs that has been used in the past with the Daytona 500 even being on the Fox Commercial in 2013. This song comes into my playlists for Daytona very often and it really comes to no surprise as this song fits Daytona because it is truly paradise. It has that sound for the Daytona 500 too. The Daytona 500 is one race that many drivers want to win and consider Gatorade Victory Lane at Daytona as a Paradise. Paradise is one of those songs that will become one of your favorites the first time you listen to it and no matter if you are a NASCAR fan or not, you have your own paradise and many of us in the racing business call Daytona their own paradise. A driver dreams of racing at Daytona and there are a lot who get that opportunity but to win the Daytona 500 is a very big deal. It's kind of like getting to attend the Daytona 500, something feels very special to it.

"Legendary" by Welshly Arms

A song used in Game 7 of the World Series last season between the Cleveland Indians and Chicago Cubs Legendary is made by Welshly Arms. It has a legendary sound to it getting you pumped for what is about to happen. If you can pull off a victory in the Daytona 500 it makes you a legend in the eyes of many and it puts you in a group of drivers with names like Earnhardt, Allison, Petty, Johnson, along with a few other names. Many drivers want to be a legend in the eyes of the fans and I think Jimmie Johnson did that last season by winning championship #7 tying Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt Sr. for championship victories. Racing in the Daytona 500 can be scary at times especially when you are on the verge of missing the Daytona 500 in either Qualifying or Duels. This song has the characteristics to be something legendary to NASCAR fans and could become the newest theme to The Daytona 500.

"Lost and Found" Zack Hemsey

Lost and found by Zack Hemsey is the one song on this list that was a definite lock to be on the list. The lyrics fit the grind and hard work it takes to make the Daytona 500 and the amount of work it takes to race in the cup series. It's truly an epic song to listen to if you want to get pumped for something that is coming up. In fact much of Zack Hemsy's work could be on this list but we chose "Lost and Found" to be the best because of this one line.

"Fitting for a generation yearning out for more
A story of the ancients etched in relics from before
Faded echoes that survive this vicious cycle that we mourn
No telling how much pain a people can ignore"

"Happiness" by NEEDTOBREATHE

"It's all for you in my pursuit of Happiness" is one of my favorite lines of this song. This song promotes why many of us work in this sport all because we are in the pursuit of happiness but really this song could go very well with speedweeks. Two weeks away from our families in pursuit of winning the Daytona 500. It's a great song by NEEDTOBREATHE like normal and is a song I used a lot last season. It's got your Sunday Mornin' Church Goin sound to it and I really enjoy that aspect. We are all in pursuit of happiness and it can truly be found within NASCAR especially if you can win the Daytona 500. It's the beginning of the season and we have a long way to go until the end of the season as it notes at the beginning of the song. This is the beginning of our season and we begin in pursuit of happiness.
