The impressive partial schedule that Stewart Friensen raced last season will be followed by a full-time run in 2017. Newly formed Halmar Friesen Racing will field the #52 entry for Stewart Friesen beginning at the season opening race next month at the Daytona International Speedway. Halmar International, a full service construction company that provides a wide range of construction services will be the primary sponsor on Friesen's #52 Chevrolet Silverado.
HFR Press Release
Tommy Baldwin Jr. will oversee day-to-day operations while Trip Bruce will be the crew chief for the #52. Bruce most recently worked with Baldwin in his NASCAR K&N Pro Series East. Bruce has worked in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series now for 10 years. In 2016, Bruce worked with Mike Bliss, Spencer Boyd, Kyle Donahue, and Bobby Pierce gaining a best finish of 23rd at Kansas with Bobby Pierce. Bruce has one NCWTS Championship under his belt also winning the 2008 Title with Johnny Benson.
Friesen, the Niagra-on-the-Lake, Ontario native, competed in six races last season with his debut coming at Eldora where he finished 28th following a crash. His best finish would come at New Hampshire where he would finish 13th. A season average finish of 21st and average start of 20th makes the driver a real contender in 2017 especially at the annual trip to Eldora where Friesen could punch his ticket to the Chase.
