Dak Dillon for NASCAR |
In 2017, the NASCAR K&N Pro Series Pro Series East will make their debut at the Memphis International Raceway and it will be NASCAR's first appearance in Memphis since the NASCAR Xfinity Series raced there on October 24th, 2009 where Brad Keselowski took the victory. With this race happening good things could happen for Memphis and NASCAR. With the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series returning to Gateway Motorsports Park, it seems that NASCAR is looking to return to its roots in the sport at tracks like Memphis, Mansfield, Rockingham, Nashville, and hopefully sooner or later North Wilkesboro. With the NASCAR K&N Pro Series testing the waters in Memphis, the popularity that NASCAR had in Southwestern Tennessee could return and that could be a good thing not only for the state of Tennessee, but for the NASCAR fans from the area around the Memphis along with the Hotels, Restaurants, Small Businesses, and other places around the track. Should a successful showing happen The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series or NASCAR Xfinity Series could return to Memphis which could be a delight to fans watching the sport and those who have been complaining about cookie cutter race tracks.
On top of Memphis, the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East will head to Bristol sharing the track with the NASCAR Xfinity and Sprint Cup Series. The ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards will also visit the state of Tennessee with a race at the Fairgrounds Speedway in Nashville on April 8th, 2017. The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will return to the Bristol Motor Speedway twice while the NASCAR Whelen Modified Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will visit the Worlds Fastest Half Mile in August.
