Stats Are Just Numbers - Homestead-Miami Speedway Edition

All three of NASCAR's Top Series heads to the Homestead-Miami Speedway this weekend for the annual Ford Championship Weekend and it's gonna be a show this weekend as its the first time all three series will have the Elimination Chase Format. Of Course that Elimination word is more important now because if your eliminated that means see one of the other three drivers win the Championship. In a rather bland Chase Phoenix made up for it and I think Homestead will out do itself once again with two drivers Chasing another Championship while the other two Chase their first Championship in the Cup Series. Xfinity and Camping World Truck Series also have some excitement with four drivers in the Xfinity Series looking to gain their first Championship in the sport while in the Truck Series three of the four drivers are chasing their first Championship.

Interesting Fact - In 2005 it was the first race at Homestead to run under the lights, after being installed during the summer. Tony Stewart would win the Championship that night while Greg Biffle would gain the victory. 

In 2009 Denny Hamlin wons from the furthest back anyone has at the track from 38th to his first win at the track, and Jimmie Johnson scores his record-setting 4th consecutive Championship.

The 2016 Ford EcoBoost 400 will be the final race in the Sprint Sponsorship.

Interesting Fact - In 2007 it hosted the final race under the Anheuser-Busch sponsorship and in 2014 it was the final race under the Nationwide Sponsorship. 

In 2009, Kyle Busch won the Ford 300 and NASCAR Nationwide Series Championship in the same night, the only driver to do so.

Interesting Fact - In 1997 John Nemechek was seriously injured in a crash during the race, and died several days later, becoming the first of two drivers (the other being Tony Roper in 2000) to die from injuries sustained in a crash in the Camping World Truck Series. 

In 2006, The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series raced under the lights at Homestead for the first time.
