As the Rain Fell, So did the chances of Carl Edwards being eliminated from the Chase. At lap 293, the cars were sent down Pit Road and then a few minutes later NASCAR called the AAA Texas 500 at the Texas Motor Speedway and Carl Edwards was called to Victory Lane. Joey Logano was catching Carl Edwards before the Caution fell but he'd have to handle a second place finish. Former Chaser's Martin Truex Jr. and Chase Elliott along with Chaser Kyle Busch rounded out the Top-5. Kurt Busch was the worst finishing Chaser who finished 20th, one lap down. The Stewart Haas trio now basically enters Phoenix in a must win situation in order to move to the next round.

We normally have a driver of the week but this weekend we have a Pit Crew of the Race. When Edwards made what would be his final pit stop of the race, Edwards came in with Truex Jr. in the lead. Edwards team had an excellent pit stop that sent him to the front and ultimately ended with him in victory lane! Edwards not only had the speed to win but he also had the fastest pit crew on pit road who minimized mistakes and managed to land him in victory lane which ultimately sends Edwards to his first final four appearance and his first time competing for the Championship since he finished second by virtue of a tie to Tony Stewart in 2011. Congrats to Carl Edwards and his pit crew on getting the Job done in Texas and congrats on becoming the Driver of the Week!

Next Race for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series

One more time in the West Coast before we head to South Florida for the Ford 400 at the Homestead Miami Speedway. Six more drivers still have a shot at moving on with a win and if one of those drivers win five drivers will shoot for that final points spot to head to Homestead via points. Kevin Harvick may have a target on his back after what happened last night at Texas and Austin Dillon could be the guy who finally makes this chase exciting. The field runs to Homestead after this race where we will set the Final Four. Jimmie Johnson and Carl Edwards are the two drivers who are moving on and only two drivers really sit in a must win situation are Kevin Harvick and Kurt Busch. Currently Joey Logano and Kyle Busch sit in the Chase and with a steady race at Phoenix, it could remain with those two but with Harvick's past at Phoenix the field needs to watch out.
