Michael McDowell has had the season of his career with his first career Top-5 finish within grasp at Daytona and finally a victory at Road America with Richard Childress Racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. On Sunday McDowell will look to give Circle Sport it's farewell race with a great showing at Homestead.

Following the 2016 Season, the Circle-Sport relationship with Leavine Family Racing will come to an end and the two teams will each go their separate ways. Circle Sport will field a car or sell/lease a charter in 2017 while Leavine Family Racing will remain as it's own gaining a charter from Tommy Baldwin Racing. As the plan goes, Todd Parrott and Michael McDowell will remain as the driver crew chief combination if sponsorship can come about. Homestead could be a very important key to 2017 for McDowell who is looking to rebound from a 34th place finish last weekend following a tire problem late in the race. McDowell, as I said earlier in the article, has had a career season in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series with 9 Top-20 finishes, the most of

his career and McDowell is chasing his best career finish in points. McDowell currently sits 30th in points. McDowell is 41 points behind 29th place Landon Cassill and with some luck on Sunday, McDowell could finish 29th place in points. Circle Sport Leavine Family Racing will bring back the #59 this weekend for the second time this season as it previously raced in the Daytona 500 where Michael brought home a 15th place finish.
McDowell has raced at Homestead six times in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. His best start in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series came in 2009 where McDowell started 18th driving for Tommy Baldwin Racing. McDowell's best finish at Homestead came in 2014 where McDowell finished 21st. McDowell looks to cap off a career season with the best finish possible at Homestead and hopes to rebound from his finish last weekend in Homestead. (Koelle,2016)
