McDowell Lands Top-10 in Season Finale at Homestead

Michael McDowell was able to cap off the best season of his career with his first Top-10 finish on a non-restrictor plate track on Sunday Night in the Ford 400 at the Homestead-Miami Speedway but it came to no surprise to many as both CSLFR cars remained in the Top-15 most of the race. McDowell's teammate, Ty Dillon, wasn't as fortunate though as he was involved in a late race wreck relegating Ty to a 33rd place finish.

In that same race that basically ended Ty Dillon's night, McDowell also received some right side damage after making contact with the wall. McDowell brought the #59 Thrivent Financial Chevrolet SS to pit road for some service. He was lucky that everyone behind Joey Logano came to pit and would restart with a few laps to go. McDowell would rocket through the positions he lost after being involved in the wreck and would bring the car home in the 10th position, his second Top-10 finish of the 2016 Season and first Top-10 finish of his career on a track that wasn't a Superspeedway.
McDowell will carry this momentum into the 2017 Season where he will seek to gain his first career victory in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. McDowell is expected to return to Leavine Family Racing in 2017 as the Circle Sport Relationship is coming to an end. Leavine Family Racing gains their 2017 Charter from Tommy Baldwin Racing. McDowell will look to have a very successful 2017 where McDowell seeks to run his first Full-Time Season of his career and will seek to gain a spot in the 2017 NASCAR Chase for the Championship.
