In seven seasons, Johnny Sauter's best finish was second in 2011 with ThorSport Racing. He finished fourth the last three seasons. Tonight in his eighth season, Johnny Sauter was able to gain his first Championship in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series by finishing ahead of Matt Crafton, Christopher Bell, and Timothy Peters in the inaugural Championship Race of the inaugural NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Chase.
Johnny Sauter began the season with a victory at Daytona and then Sauter kept a consistent showing. Following Talladega, Johnny Sauter would become a real championship contender by winning Martinsville and then winning Texas the following weekend. At Homestead tonight Sauter was consistent all night long and then showed the speed he needed to ultimately win the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Championship.
From all of us at The Motorsports News Source we would like to congratulate Johnny Sauter and all of GMS Racing on their Championship Victory tonight in Homestead! (Koelle,2016)
