Talladega Now Not a Worry for Johnson as He Wins at Charlotte!

Jimmie Johnson was able to pull a mistake free day today as he took his first victory since he won in California in March. Johnson was able have a better restart then Matt Kenseth who finished second. Ryan Newman was able to pull his first Top-5 since Kentucky while Kyle Larson rounded out the Top-5. Johnson led 155 laps en route to his 78th career victory.
In a wild day filled with action and 8 cautions, some Chasers left with a hole while others left with a padding which is something I personally would want to have. Chasers like Joey Logano, Kevin Harvick, Austin Dillon, and Denny Hamlin all DNF'ed today's putting them in a slight hole going to Kansas next weekend. Drivers like Jimmie Johnson, Matt Kenseth, Brad Keselowski, Carl Edwards all helped themselves going into Kansas.

 A flawless day for Jimmie Johnson landed him in victory lane for the first time since California way back in March. After weeks of watching them slip away with pit road issues whether it be Crew over the wall too soon at Dover or it be a speeding penalty like at Chicago, Johnson was able to lock into the Round of 8 for the first time since this version of the Chase began. With Talladega looming, Johnson now has no worries and can race for victories. Johnson has won at Kansas three times over his career with the most recent coming in 2015. Johnson has won at Talladega twice with the most recent coming in 2011. Johnson hasn't had the best finishes at Talladega recently though his average finish hasn't been very good. Since his last victory in 2011 at Talladega, Johnson's average finish is a 19th. Next Race for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series 

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series isn't in Charlotte anymore as they head to Kansas for the Hollywood Casino 400 at the Kansas Speedway. Joey Logano is one of the drivers sitting on the outside looking in and with him heading to Kansas there is a stat he wants to see. Joey Logano isn't only the Defending Winner of the Hollywood Casino 400 but he also won this race in 2014 meaning he has won this race every year it has been in the Chase. Chasers who are also former winners here include Matt Kenseth and Kevin Harvick along with the guy who doesn't really care about the next two weekends, Jimmie Johnson. It will be one of the best races of the season and it will decide eleven drivers fate for Talladega. Johnson's fate has already been sealed.
