Josef Newgarden moving to Team Penske IndyCar Team in 2017

It was announced this afternoon that a long standing rumor was confirmed and that rumor involved Josef Newgarden.
The Hendersonville, TN native has been in the Verizon IndyCar Series now for 5 years where he has won four races for Ed Carpenter Racing. His first victory came in 2014 at Birmingham, since Newgarden has won two more races (Toronto and Iowa). Despite a broke collarbone and a mild hand fracture, Newgarden still completed all of 2016 finishing 4th in points.
Newgarden will replace Juan Pablo Montoya in the #2. It is currently unknown where Juan Pablo Montoya will land in 2017, Josef Newgarden leaving Ed Carpenter Racing leaves an open seat that Montoya could grab. The dominoes begin to fall with Team Penske's announcement about Josef Newgarden and this relationship could lead somewhere else also.
Newgarden has made it known he's interested in racing in NASCAR and that opportunity could become available in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. He could race in the Road Course Races like Watkins Glen, Road America, and Mid Ohio. I personally would like to see the Hendersonville, TN native race in at least one of the NASCAR Xfinity or Camping World Truck Series race at the Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, TN. (Koelle,2016)
