Truex Wins Second Crown Jewel of 2016!

Martin Truex Jr. was able to win his second Crown Jewel of 2016. He became the second straight driver to win in the Coca-Cola 600 and the Bojangles Southern 500 in the same season. Truex Jr. domminated in the 600 and came in on the right side of Kevin Harvick's pit crew's mistakes and take the victory in the Southern 500. Kevin Harvick had the car to beat but yet again pit crew issues set them back yet again. Harvick was asked just one question in the media center before walking out on the second question stating "I'm over being a cheerleader. Those guys get paid a lot of money to perform on Pit Road, and cheerleading hasn't really been working. You've got to get after it on pit road and do your job." Last weekend's winner Kyle Larson finished 3rd, Denny Hamlin 4th and Joey Logano helped round out the Top-5.

The Motorsports News Source NASCAR Driver of he Week

Martin Truex Jr. was able to add on to his race for the championship today by winning his second race of the 2016 Season and his 5th victory of his 13 year career. With this win it helps drivers to hold a spot with points. It also helps the team get an extra pep in their step going into Richmond with a brand new sponsor in Tanger Outlet. The more victories Truex can gain, the more bonus points he will have heading into the chase which could be very beneficial to staying in the chase and being in the final four at Homestead. This could be the beginning of a string of good luck for the #78 team and could certainly help them become the 2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion. Congratulations to Martin Truex Jr. and his #78 Auto-Owners Insurance Team on not only the victory but also on becoming the newest driver of the week!

Next Race for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series

The final gun in the bullet called the Final Season of the 2016 Season will happen next weekend at the Richmond International Raceway. The Federated Auto Parts 400 will be the last race for some drivers that actually matters in the form of points. Desperation will sit in for some drivers and we could see a side of some drivers we've never seen. 3 spots remain and only 3 drivers can make it in at Richmond. Chase Elliott, Austin Dillon, and Jamie McMurray remain in those bubble spots and if one driver wins that isn't one of those three, Emotions will fly and championships will be lost and drivers will begin looking to 2017.
