Pit Stop Issues Woe Harvick's Chance at Winning Southern 500

A second Southern 500 victory was within reach of Kevin Harvick, leading 214 laps. One bad pit stop really ended it all and made it to where leading the most laps was really just an after thought to Harvick. Harvick has done that numerous times this season and changes have been made to the pit crew but it just haven't been getting any better. Harvick has led the most laps this season but only has two wins to show for it and you know that stat is a very bad stat to be hanging over not only the Pit Crew but the driver. The driver is to praise for the #4 being first in the owner points because Kevin has been able to pull a consistent 9th place finish this season.
Harvick commented on his pit crew issues during the media availability after to Bojangles Southern 500 and this is what he had to say. "I'm over being a cheerleader. Those guys get paid a lot of money to perform on Pit Road, and cheerleading hasn't really been working. You've got to get after it on pit road and do your job." Harvick has been having a what some people call an off past few years since he won his championship in 2014. Harvick has won a combined 5 races in the last two years, the same amount he won in his Championship season in 2014.
The best news Harvick can recieve right now is the fact that he's a lock in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Chase and well the pit crew really needs to work on their stops and if those two can combine, Harvick will be as unbeatable as he was his first season at Stewart Haas Racing and that is something I know Harvick strives. As the team moves to Ford in 2017, some cosmetic work will need to be done. With SHR starting an Xfinity Series team in 2017, the pit crews should get better, and Harvick could become a favorite to win Ford a Championship next season. The chase has to be the only reason Harvick is still so focused on this season. (Koelle,2016)
