Michael McDowell deffinitly had the Malwarebytes Chevrolet SS tuned in and ready to roll at Richmond last night. McDowell had to use Malwarebytes to scope out any of the big wrecks last night as McDowell just missed a majority of them and landed his #95 Malwarebytes Chevrolet SS in the 12th positon, a track best finish for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series veteran.

A 15th place finish at the season opening Daytona 500, a 10th place finish in the return to Daytona, and now a 12th place finish at Richmond is making 2016 one of McDowell's most successful NSCS Seasons of his career. McDowell started the race from the 27th position and stayed within the Top-25 a majority of the night. On the final restart McDowell sat 10th looking to gain his second Top-10 of the season but with all of the shuffling and chaos McDowell managed to hang onto a 12th place finish.

With that 12th place finish, McDowell was able to secure his 3rd Top-15 finish of the season, the most he has had in an individual season in his career. As weeks continue McDowell is making that average finish go lower and lower to 25th place finish, which for a small underfunded team like McDowell's is a huge deal. McDowell has an average 29th place starting position which was what McDowell had at the end of the season last year. Improvement is evident in the #95 this season and it's only so long before McDowell could land in victory lane for the first time in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. McDowell finally gained his first career Xfinity Series victory a few weeks ago at Road America and will certainly be seeking a first victory in the Cup Series. McDowell is approaching some of his best tracks with Talladega just around the corner and we all know how McDowell did at Dega' in May.

McDowell will race the #95 Thrivent Financial Chevrolet SS at Chicago but with the addition of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. McDowell will also race at New Hampshire. Ty Dillon will return to the #95 at Dover with Death Wish Coffee on board. Charlotte, Kansas, Talladega, Martinsville, Texas, Phoenix, and Homestead will have him behind the wheel. McDowell could make some noise in his remaining races and could continue onto his Top-15 count and who knows, maybe add a Top-10 or 5 somewhere in those races. McDowell will also watch closely in the Xfinity Series with the Owners points to see if McDowell can become part of yet another Owner's Championship as McDowell won in the #2 Rheem Chevrolet a Road America and that car is currently siting second in the Owners Championship Standings to J.D Gibbs #18 that Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, and Sam Hornish Jr. taking it to victory lane. McDowell is also making strides toward securing a ride for 2017 and hopefully gaining a full time ride so McDowell can contend for a championship. (Koelle,2016)
